A two-day onslaught of Supercell storms is coming; Residents warned: "Expect tornadoes" PHOTO/VIDEO

From eastern Spain, through the Balearic Islands, southern France, Switzerland and Austria, across northern and central Italy, and as far as Slovenia and Croatia, multiple rounds of intense supercell and multicell thunderstorms are expected, according to severe-weather.eu, as reported by Večernji list. Current ESTOFEX forecasts also indicate an elevated risk of severe thunderstorms across parts of this region.

The greatest threats are large hail, hurricane-force wind gusts, heavy rainfall, and potentially tornadoes.

Residents are therefore urged to exercise extra caution and closely monitor official weather warnings issued by the relevant meteorological services.

According to forecasts from Weather.com, extreme weather is moving in from the western Mediterranean, bringing storms, hurricane-force wind gusts and waterspouts. Coastal areas of France, Italy, Spain and Croatia are particularly at risk, while Vienna and Austria as a whole are in the zone of greatest danger.

The current forecast for Vienna also shows a risk of thunderstorms, with an official yellow thunderstorm warning in effect. 

Meteorologist Jan Šenk notes that dangerous flash floods and exceptionally heavy rainfall are also expected.

According to current forecast models, the threat is expected to persist through Saturday, while similarly unusually high amounts of rainfall are forecast for Switzerland as well, Heute reports.
