Vučić with the world's greatest badminton player Lin Dan: "Thank you for promoting EXPO with us"
President of Serbia Aleksandar Vučić met with the greatest badminton player of all time, two-time Olympic champion and five-time world champion Lin Dan.
President of Serbia Aleksandar Vučić said that during his visit to China, everyone he met knew about Lin Dan, and that it was incredible that he was in Belgrade.
The badminton legend stated that it was a great honor for him to come to Serbia, while Vučić emphasized that EXPO is a major opportunity for Serbia to present itself in the best possible light.
“Thank you for agreeing to promote EXPO with us,” Vučić said.
“We are very proud of our relations with the People's Republic of China, and I am especially proud of my relations with President Xi, but I did not realize how popular you are across Asia.”
Vučić asked how much Lin Dan has to train daily in order to win all his titles.
“Every day we must dedicate at least six hours to training. I was lucky—I never suffered an injury during my career,” Lin Dan said.
The champion added that this is the case for every athlete, while the president replied: “For everyone? If our football players trained that much, where would we be then?”
Vučić noted that all young players in Serbia are eager to see him, and then asked how many rackets Lin Dan had brought.
“I would beat him if it were two,” Vučić said jokingly, after which he was told that the racket was a souvenir for him.
Lin Dan is a professional Chinese badminton player, a two-time Olympic champion, five-time world champion, as well as a six-time All England champion, and is considered one of the greatest badminton players of all time.
He has won all nine major titles in world badminton — the Olympic Games, World Championships, World Cup, Thomas Cup, Sudirman Cup, Super Series Masters Finals, All England Open, Asian Games, and Asian Championships — becoming the first and only player to achieve this feat.
