A fire front is moving toward Humčani through inaccessible terrain.

A small auxiliary building burned down overnight in the village of Kovačići, RTRS reported.

Nevesinje firefighters were assisted overnight by firefighters from Gacko, Bileća and the DVD Lastva fire brigade from Trebinje, as well as by a large number of local residents.

The Nevesinje Fire and Rescue Unit confirmed that they are expecting helicopter assistance to help extinguish the fire in the inaccessible terrain on the southern slopes of Mount Crvanj.

An emergency situation was declared late Wednesday evening in the Nevesinje villages of Presjeka, Kljuna, Borovčići and Kovačići due to a wildfire that has reached homes and is threatening people and property, Nevesinje Mayor Milenko Avdalović said.

Avdalović added that the situation is catastrophic and alarming, RTRS reported.

“People’s lives and property are at risk. All available forces have been mobilized, and our firefighters are constantly on the ground,” Avdalović said.
