U.S. planes urgently take off toward Europe; Is the end of the war approaching?

The U.S. website Axios reported that four aircraft of the United States Air Force have taken off for Europe as part of preparations for a possible signing ceremony of an agreement between the United States and Iran to end the war.

Sources familiar with the preparations told the media outlet that the aircraft are heading to the Swiss city of Geneva, where U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance is expected to sign the agreement on behalf of Washington.

Axios, citing a diplomat from one of the negotiating mediator countries and an unnamed U.S. official, also revealed the content of a Memorandum of Understanding between the United States and Iran, which President Donald Trump claims will be signed soon.

The document calls for the urgent de-escalation of the Strait of Hormuz without charging “tolls” on that maritime route, as well as the easing of sanctions on Iran in proportion to Tehran’s compliance with the agreement.

The memorandum would extend the current ceasefire for 60 days, including Lebanese territory, during which negotiations on Iran’s nuclear program would take place.

The text also includes a framework for addressing the issue of Iran’s stockpiles of enriched uranium, although any action related to Iran’s nuclear program would depend on a second, more detailed agreement that is yet to follow.

Although Trump claims the agreement could be signed as soon as this weekend, Iran has stated that it has not yet made a final decision.
