Ukrainian Government collapses
The Ukrainian parliament, the Verkhovna Rada, accepted Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko’s resignation today.
The entire government automatically resigned along with the prime minister, and 258 lawmakers voted in favor of accepting the resignation, Ukrinform reported.
Before that, Svyrydenko addressed parliament, thanking lawmakers for their cooperation throughout the year and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky for the trust placed in her, the agency said.
Ukrainian Parliament Speaker Ruslan Stefanchuk announced yesterday on Facebook that Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko’s resignation had been submitted to parliament.
"I am grateful to Yulia Anatoliivna for her work at the head of the government during an extremely difficult period for the state, her contribution to strengthening the economy, supporting citizens, and advancing our country on its path toward the European Union. I wish her success in her future work," the speaker of the Ukrainian parliament added.
Zelensky had previously announced a reshuffle of the Cabinet of Ministers as part of implementing a new political strategy and changing the leadership of security and judicial institutions.
On July 17, 2025, the Verkhovna Rada approved the appointment of Yulia Svyrydenko as Ukraine’s prime minister.
According to Ukrinform sources, a parliamentary vote on the appointment of a new government is expected to take place on July 16.
Until then, First Deputy Prime Minister and former Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal will temporarily serve as head of government.
