Israeli Defence Forces (IDF) announced that it targeted Hezbollah operatives in southern Lebanon today

The IDF posted a drone strike video on social media showing an attack on a group of Hezbollah operatives, while troops continue ground operations in southern Lebanon, according to The Times of Israel.

According to the Israeli military, troops identified two attempted attacks by Hezbollah against them before coordinating a drone strike. They also said a large quantity of weapons was found, including Kalashnikov rifles, anti-tank missiles, RPG launchers, and an underground weapons cache containing mortar shells.

Earlier today, Israel issued an “urgent” evacuation warning for civilians in southern Lebanon, stating it must act “forcefully” due to Hezbollah’s presence in the area.

 

Negotiations today between Israel and Lebanon

U.S. President Donald Trump said that talks between Israel and Lebanon on a ceasefire will be held today.

He wrote on his Truth Social platform that the negotiations will take place between the leaders of the two countries.

‘I am trying to get some breathing space between Israel and Lebanon. It has been a long time since the two leaders spoke, about 34 years. It will happen today,’ Trump wrote.

“The Israeli National Security Council considers the possibility of a ceasefire in Lebanon“

The Israeli National Security Council is considering the possibility of a ceasefire in Lebanon, according to an unnamed senior official from the Hezbollah militant group.

There has been no official confirmation of these claims, but unverified reports suggest that a ceasefire could be on the agenda of the Israeli National Security Council, the Times Union reports.

“Events in the past few hours have pushed things in that direction,” the Hezbollah official said, expressing “cautious optimism” that a negotiation process could begin as early as tonight.

Although Israel has tried to separate its war against Hezbollah from any peace agreement between Iran and the United States, Tehran has insisted that any ceasefire deal must also include an end to hostilities with the Iran-aligned Hezbollah.

“If Israel is committed to a full cessation of hostilities, then Hezbollah could consider this issue,” the unnamed official said, adding that Israel’s continued presence in parts of Lebanon remains a key concern.
