Medal for Adriana Vilagoš!
Serbian athlete Adriana Vilagoš won the bronze medal in the javelin throw at the European Athletics Championships.
Vilagoš has now won her third consecutive medal at the European Championships, following silver medals in Munich in 2022 and Rome in 2024.
It is worth noting that Adriana, born in 2004, was the second-youngest competitor in the final.
Vilagoš secured the bronze with her second-round throw of 60.93m. In all her other attempts, however, she fell well short, failing to surpass 56 metres.
That was far below both her personal best of 67.22m and her season’s best of 63.83m. Had she matched her season’s best, she would have won gold, for comparison.
The gold medal went to Croatia’s Sara Kolak, who threw 62.43m in the first round.
Silver went to Germany’s Julia Ulbricht with a throw of 61.53m.
This is Serbia’s first and only medal at the European Championships in Birmingham, where Serbian athletes also reached five finals.
