The heatwave begins; Conditions will be extremely dangerous PHOTO
The State Hydrometeorological Institute (RHMZ) has warned that a heatwave begins across Serbia today, with maximum temperatures reaching up to 35°C today, 37°C on Thursday, and 38°C to 40°C from Friday onward.
The RHMZ also stated that tropical nights are expected in urban areas, with minimum temperatures ranging from 20°C to 24°C (68°F to 75°F), while Belgrade is forecast to see overnight lows between 22°C and 26°C (72°F to 79°F).
The RHMZ added that toward the end of the first ten days of August, the likelihood of localized showers and thunderstorms will increase, although without any significant cooling. Despite a gradual weakening of the heatwave's intensity, maximum daytime temperatures are still expected to range between 30°C and 35°C (86°F to 95°F).
The RHMZ also warned that a prolonged period of high temperatures can dry out vegetation and soil, significantly increasing the risk of wildfires breaking out and spreading rapidly in open areas.
The RHMZ also noted that water levels on the Danube, the Sava, and the Tisa River near Titel will remain below low navigational levels.
An orange weather warning has been issued for the entire country, while on Friday, July 31, the red weather warning—the highest level of alert—will be in effect for the Bačka and Banat regions.
