Vučić and Pellegrini spoke
The President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, addressed the public together with the President of the Slovak Republic, Peter Pellegrini.
“It is a great honor for me to host you here in Serbia as the President of Slovakia,” Vučić said at the beginning of his address.
He then added that there was no need to explain how much Serbia loves Slovakia, noting that our people regard them as sisters and brothers.
“Today, in our talks—which we will continue this evening and tomorrow—we discussed our relations, economic ties, the position of Slovaks in Serbia, and looked at how to do many more good things,” Vučić explained.
He also noted that they discussed Serbia’s European path.
“Today we agreed on how to continue our military cooperation and the cooperation between our defense industries. Slovakia is strong in that regard; Serbia is not weak. We also discussed the issue of energy and bringing many Slovak manufacturers to our country,” Vučić said.
“We also talked about important investments by Slovak companies here in Serbia. We discussed the position of Slovaks here in Serbia, and tomorrow we will go together to Bački Petrovac, where the population is predominantly members of the Slovak community. We will listen to everyone, and if we can, we will resolve those issues,” he announced.
Vučić then said that he had also discussed global issues with President Pellegrini that affect both Slovakia and Serbia, adding that they concluded they must cooperate and be there for one another.
“I am grateful for the great and sincere support that Slovakia provides to Serbia on its European path. I also thank Pellegrini and Prime Minister Fico for their most sincere support, at times when others would turn their backs,” Vučić said.
“People here love both the Slovaks and Slovakia. We are connected by a long history and are ready to continue working together. Once again, thank you for being here in our Serbia—you are always welcome, and here you will always have a devoted, loyal, and sincere friend,” he said at the end of his address.

After Vučić, President Pellegrini also addressed the public.
“First of all, I would like to thank you for the wonderful welcome—not only for me, but for the entire delegation. We have a sincere relationship with Serbia, one that is not burdened by any problems,” he said.
“I would like to commend President Vučić’s pragmatic approach during our talks. We went through every area of our cooperation in an open and sincere manner, and in some of them we have already achieved significant results,” the President of Slovakia stated.
“Serbia is Slovakia’s most important economic partner in the region. Prime Minister Fico and Slovakia also refuse to accept certain ‘games’ played by members within the standard accession process to the community,” Pellegrini noted, adding: “Serbia has Slovakia’s support, and we will always support Serbia on its European path. We have many topics to discuss, and I invite President Vučić for an official visit to Slovakia,” he said.
Asked by journalists about the incident that occurred in Bački Petrovac, Vučić said:
“There is no one in Serbia who has anything against Slovaks. It was nothing more than a common exchange between people who think differently. That was happening all over Serbia in those days—nothing different happened there,” Vučić explained.
On the question of why the EU is not allowing Serbia to open the ready Cluster 3, Pellegrini said that he considers the postponement of opening the cluster to be a kind of game by certain member states.
“Countries that once gave false promises to the countries of the Western Balkans are now talking about changing the rules. If this continues, the people of this region will stop believing in the European Union project itself,” he explained.
Vučić added:
“Since the war in Ukraine began, only we have not opened a single chapter. And I don’t need to say anything more. The target was always moved, and we were told that we had to do something new. Political obedience has always been demanded of us,” he said.
“Do not forget that within Cluster 3 we have already opened five chapters—only three remain. It was not a technical problem at all; they simply wanted to send such a message, and we accepted it. We are turning toward work and progress, and toward preserving peace. You will see—this will prove to be a key decision,” Vučić concluded.
“Our people sincerely love both the Slovaks and Slovakia”

Vučić later also spoke on his Instagram account.
“It is a great honor for me to host you here in Serbia, dear Peter Pellegrini. I do not need to explain to our citizens how much we love Slovakia or how close the Serbian and Slovak peoples are. We see Slovaks as sisters and brothers.
We discussed all important aspects of our cooperation—the further improvement of economic relations and the position of Slovaks in Serbia. We also spoke about Serbia’s European path, and I expressed my gratitude for the sincere support that Slovakia provides us on that path. Once again, I emphasized my gratitude to Slovakia for respecting the territorial integrity of the Republic of Serbia, international public law, and the UN Charter—principles on which Slovakia can always rely when it comes to Serbia.”
“While discussing various topics, we agreed on how to continue our military-technical cooperation and on the ways and modalities of cooperation between our defense industries. We also discussed energy issues and the engagement of more Slovak companies in our country, but in particular how to learn from Slovakia and educate people for the application of nuclear energy in our country. For us, it is important to learn, to send our people to acquire knowledge through training, and to have them return and pass that knowledge on. In this regard, we must think far ahead.
We also discussed various other investments by Slovak companies. We are very open to investments by our Slovak friends and will do everything we can to help create an investment environment that suits them. We also talked about global issues and agreed that preserving peace is of the utmost importance for both Serbia and Slovakia in today’s turbulent and challenging times.
We must help one another, work closely together, and preserve peace for our peoples—small in number, but great in dignity and pride. Slovakia is one of the most popular countries in Serbia; our people sincerely love both the Slovaks and Slovakia. Thank you for being in Serbia today and tomorrow. You are always welcome, and please feel at home. In Serbia, Slovakia will have a loyal and sincere friend.”
