Shooting in school courtyard in Smederevo: Injuries reported; Man arrested

He is suspected of, following a verbal and physical altercation with several minors in the courtyard of a primary school in Smederevo, going to his home, taking a gas pistol loaded with metal pellets, and returning. He then allegedly fired several pellets at the minors from a street next to the school, striking one of them in the hand.

He then allegedly returned to his home, left the pistol there, and headed back toward the school courtyard. After seeing a police patrol, he attempted to flee, first by scooter and then on foot, but police officers soon caught up with him and arrested him.

During a search of the suspect’s family home, police found and seized the gas pistol along with its magazine, which contained 11 metal pellets.

By order of the basic public prosecutor, the suspect has been placed in custody for up to 48 hours, after which he will be brought before the prosecutor’s office with a criminal complaint filed against him.
