Here's when students will have their first short break; There will be five in total this school year
According to the official school calendar published by the Ministry of Education, students will have a total of five school breaks this academic year, with the first break coming as early as mid-November in the form of a short autumn break.
Students in primary and secondary schools in Central Serbia will have a three-day break from Wednesday, November 11, through Friday, November 13.
As the short break is followed by the weekend, students will effectively have five consecutive days off, making it an ideal opportunity for a short family getaway and some rest before the end of the first semester. The main reason for the break is the observance of the national holiday, Armistice Day, commemorating the end of World War I.
Immediately after the November break, students will return to school and remain in class until the end of December.
The first semester ends on December 30, and the winter break begins the following day, lasting from December 31 to January 15. Students will return to school on Monday, January 18, when the second semester officially begins.
After the winter break, the calendar includes three more breaks: the Statehood Day holiday from February 15 to 19, followed by the spring (Easter) break from April 30 to May 4.
Finally, there is the summer break, which begins at the end of the school year—on June 11 for primary school students and June 18 for secondary school students.
Different Schedule in Vojvodina
Students in the Autonomous Province of Vojvodina follow a slightly different schedule, particularly when it comes to the winter and spring breaks.
In Vojvodina, the autumn mini-break falls at exactly the same time as in the rest of Serbia, but the biggest difference is in the schedule of the winter break and the additional days off for Catholic Easter.
According to the official provincial school calendar for the 2026/2027 academic year, the schedule is as follows:
The autumn mini-break coincides with the break in Central Serbia and runs from Wednesday, November 11, through Friday, November 13, 2026. Combined with the weekend, this gives students five consecutive days off.
The first semester in Vojvodina ends on December 23, 2026. The winter break begins as early as Thursday, December 24, 2026, and runs through Friday, January 8, 2027.
Students return to school on Monday, January 11, 2027. The Statehood Day break is the same as in the rest of the country, running from February 15 to 19, 2027.
