Institute of Blood Transfusion appeals to citizens: Blood supplies are very low

The Institute of Blood Transfusion of Serbia has urged adult citizens to donate blood, saying that supplies of O and A blood groups, as well as all Rh-negative blood types, are currently very low.

Blood can be donated at the Institute of Blood Transfusion of Serbia, 39 Svetog Save Street, on weekdays from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. and on Saturdays and holidays from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Upcoming mobile blood-donation drives in Belgrade include:

  • Monday, August 24: TC Banjica, 9 a.m.–1 p.m.
  • Tuesday, August 25: Municipality of New Belgrade and Lidl in Železnik, Avalska 21, 9 a.m.–1 p.m.
  • Thursday, August 27: Red Cross Obrenovac, 9 a.m.–2 p.m.
  • Friday, August 28: Požeška Street, in front of the Health Centre in Čukarica, 9 a.m.–1 p.m.

 

Healthy adults aged 18–65, weighing more than 50 kg, can generally donate blood if they meet the medical requirements. 

For the end of next week, several blood-donation drives are scheduled in mobile transfusion buses. On Saturday, August 29, the buses will be at the Church of the Holy Transfiguration in Vidikovac from 9 a.m. to noon, and in front of Ušće Shopping Center from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

On Sunday, August 30, blood donations will be collected at Stop Shop in Lazarevac from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., and in front of IKEA in Voždovac from noon to 4 p.m.
