Chinese battery giant to build factory in Indjija; Vučić: "€100 million investment" PHOTO/VIDEO
Government of Serbia signed a Framework Agreement with Jiangsu Reliance Energy Tech for the construction of a factory in Indjija to manufacture high-tech batteries for drones, humanoid robots, unmanned vehicles, advanced power tools and household appliances.
The agreement was signed in the presence of Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić by Serbian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy Adrijana Mesarović, Indjija Municipal President Marko Gašić, and Xu Fen Lan, co-founder and Chief Operating Officer of Jiangsu Reliance Energy Tech.
Chen Xuan, director and founder of Jiangsu Reliance Energy Tech, also attended the signing ceremony.
“Today I have some good news for the people of Indjija and Serbia. This is just the beginning. This is one of the best, perhaps the best, battery manufacturers in the world. It has reached the top in this field, and today we are signing agreements on investments worth €100 million in our high-tech zone in Indjija,” Vučić said after the signing, adding that the investment is worth €100 million.
“They have an impressive team of experts, as evidenced by their cooperation with companies around the world, and everyone is looking for their batteries. Today, there is hardly a drone for any purpose that does not use or seek Reliance batteries. This will help address employment and brain drain issues and help us retain people, particularly in the Pomoravlje region. We will try to establish a complete supply chain here in Serbia. That means we will not depend on someone else and their components, but will manufacture everything here in Serbia,” he added.
He also announced that within six months, Serbia will build one of the largest drone factories in Europe.
On Friday, in Šabac, at the opening of Europe’s first humanoid robot factory, Vučić said that the most sophisticated batteries in the world at present would be manufactured in Indjija.
The Chinese company “Reliance Batteries” is one of the world’s leading companies in the field of batteries for drones, unmanned vehicles, robots, as well as household appliances.
