Christian Schmidt resigned

German national Christian Schmidt has already submitted his resignation, German media outlet Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung (FAZ) reported, claiming that Schmidt personally confirmed it to them.

According to the report, Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung states that Christian Schmidt had already informed them in advance on Sunday that he would step down.

The newspaper quotes that the former German agriculture minister had notified them ahead of time about his intention to resign.

Schmidt came to Bosnia and Herzegovina about five years ago and presented himself as High Representative, although he did not have formal confirmation from the United Nations Security Council for that position.

The report also says Schmidt told the media outlet he would remain in Bosnia and Herzegovina until a new High Representative is appointed.
