Vučić visits "Srce Kamene Gore" rural household; Welcomed by large crowd; "Greater care is needed"

Vučić is expected to inspect the final works at the “Čarolija” kindergarten in Prijepolje, where a large crowd of citizens has gathered to await the Serbian president’s arrival.

State to help renovate primary school

Prijepolje Mayor Drago Popadić said that the renovation of Vladimir Perić Valter Primary School, which is in very poor condition, needs to be completed and that this is currently the municipality’s most important project.

“The school will have to be closed. We have a secondary school operating on a single-shift schedule that the children can attend,” Popadić said.

“For journalists to understand, more than €10 million is needed. There are 1,000 students, right? If Sjenica received the best school in Serbia, worth €15 million, then we’ll see what we can do here. We’ll start the works in March and complete as much as possible by September. That alone would cost you €40 million, while your budget is €16 million. The municipality could not set aside enough money from its budget to cover everything that is needed even in 50 years,” Vučić said.

Vučić: “Serbia now has eight firefighting helicopters”

Responding to journalists’ questions about criticism of the firefighting efforts in the Deliblato Sands, Vučić said the accusations were “nonsensical,” arguing that Serbia is now a leading force in Europe when it comes to firefighting helicopters.

“People have no idea what they are talking about. The helicopters did most of the work, of course. And since you’re asking, since I have to respond to people who hate their own country, who always want to pretend they’re being useful but are absolutely useless and don’t know what to do with themselves. In 2012, we had only three Bell helicopters, all dating back to 1980 — 32 years old at the time. Today, we have the best firefighting helicopters in Europe,” Vučić said during his visit to the “Srce Kamene Gore” rural tourism household.

He said that the fire and rescue service has eight helicopters, including Super Pumas, H145s and Kamov helicopters, while H125 helicopters are also now being procured.

“The Mileševa Road will be completed — It’s about 5.5 kilometers”

Vučić stressed that the state would spend a substantial amount of money on small, local roads in the area and that the Mileševa Road would be completed.

During his visit to the “Srce Kamene Gore” rural tourism household in the municipality of Prijepolje, Vučić said that the construction of these roads would cost around €16 million and emphasized that this would “change the demographic picture of Prijepolje.”

“Then, essentially, we will have solved these major arteries, at least,” Vučić said, as he began a two-day visit to southwestern Serbia today.

A large number of local residents welcomed President Vučić and raised issues affecting their communities.

Želimir Čvajak from the Stranjani local community said the area’s most pressing need was to pave 11 kilometers of gravel road leading to Brodarevo, which, he said, is in poor condition. He added that the road also has a problem with a tunnel that is collapsing on one side and was built in 1981.
