Samoa Confirms Participation in Expo 2027 Belgrade

Samoa is the 139th country to confirm its participation in Expo 2027 Belgrade. The country will present itself under the theme "Rhythms of Samoa: Connecting through Sport, Trade and Culture."

As one of the Pacific's most distinctive nations, Samoa will showcase a unique blend of Polynesian culture, natural beauty, sporting traditions and the spirit of togetherness embodied in Fa'a Samoa, the Samoan way of life, according to the announcement.

"Samoa brings to Expo 2027 Belgrade a powerful story of community, culture and connection through sport, music and tradition. Its participation demonstrates how a small island nation can achieve global recognition through its cultural authenticity, sporting achievements and commitment to sustainable development. Expo 2027 Belgrade will provide visitors with an opportunity to discover the spirit of the Pacific and the values that Samoa shares with the world", said Danilo Jerinić, Director of Expo 2027 Belgrade.

Located in the South Pacific, northeast of New Zealand, Samoa is known for its spectacular volcanic landscapes, coral reefs, waterfalls and attractions such as To Sua Ocean Trench and the Saleaula Lava Fields.

From volcanic mountains and tropical rainforests to turquoise lagoons and dramatic ocean viewpoints, Samoa offers one of the Pacific's most striking natural environments. The country is also home to Fagaloa Bay and the Uafato-Tiavea Conservation Zone, a UNESCO biosphere reserve recognized for its exceptional biodiversity and community-led conservation efforts.

According to the announcement, Samoan culture is deeply rooted in music, dance and sport.

Traditional dances such as Siva Samoa, Sasa and Fa'ataupati form an important part of the country's cultural identity. Meanwhile, Kilikiti, the Samoan version of cricket, continues to bring communities together during celebrations and social gatherings.

Traditional instruments such as the pātē drum and foafoa shells have been used in ceremonies, dances and community events for centuries. Contemporary Samoan music combines Polynesian vocal harmonies with reggae, gospel and modern musical influences.

Oral storytelling, song and rhythm play a vital role in preserving history, family heritage and cultural knowledge passed down through generations.

Through the theme "Rhythms of Samoa", the Pacific island nation will bring to Belgrade the spirit of the ocean, the strength of community and the energy of a culture that connects generations.
