At the time, NBA insider Brett Siegel reported that there was no appetite within the organization for a coaching change, despite the challenges the young coach faced throughout the season."Despite the challenges he has faced and the constant expectation that a team led by Nikola Jokić should compete for a championship, there is currently no sentiment within the organization that Denver should replace its head coach this summer," Siegel wrote.It remains to be seen who will become Adelman's lead assistant.Denver finished last season with a 54–28 record, good for third place in the Western Conference.
