They are planning a major entry into the European market from the end of 2027, including vehicle production on European soil, which is why we invited them to come to Expo earlier, so they can get used to Serbia. They already have offices in Serbia because of smartphones and household appliances, but this is a completely different dimension,” Vučić told reporters. Asked about China’s technological position and the application of artificial intelligence and robotics in manufacturing, Aleksandar Vucic said that at least 25 percent is being invested in artificial intelligence and that the Chinese are successfully integrating software and hardware while seeking to demonstrate what they have achieved through AI.“That is an area where they are better than the Americans, although there are still fields where the Americans remain ahead. But what China has accomplished is fascinating, and now it is a race between two powers — China and America. China is moving forward in giant strides, and I congratulate them on that. Our task is to learn and for them to help us develop at least part of what they have,” Vučić said.He added that, based on what he had seen so far, the whole of Europe is far behind China.“I hope that this friendship, along with all the agreements and arrangements we have made with President Xi Jinping, will allow us to have at least part of that technology in Serbia in the future,” Vučić stated. In a post on Instagram, he said he had learned a great deal during the factory visit, particularly about the results China has achieved.“This place is incredible, I have never seen anything like it before. Everything is automated, everything is operated by 2,000 robots, which produce 1,500 cars in two shifts,” Vučić wrote. TANJUG/ JULIJA BAKIĆ  He also held a meeting with company representatives, attended by Serbian government ministers who are part of the delegation. The factory is located in the Yizhuang economic and technological development zone in Beijing and covers as much as 718,000 square meters. The most impressive figure is the production speed — a new vehicle rolls off the assembly line every 76 seconds. When operating at full capacity, the factory can produce around 40 vehicles per hour. One of the facility’s key characteristics is its extremely high level of automation.More than 700 robots take part in the production process, while certain stages are fully automated, from body assembly to final quality control. Xiaomi also uses AI systems to detect defects and irregularities with near-perfect accuracy. With the Xiaomi SU7 model, Xiaomi achieved enormous success on the Chinese market in a very short period of time. According to 2026 data, more than 360,000 first-generation SU7 vehicles have been sold, while interest in new models continues to grow.TANJUG/ JULIJA BAKIĆ The factory is not just a production facility, as the complex also includes development centers, research laboratories, test tracks, and vehicle presentation areas. Xiaomi is trying to keep the entire process — from software development to the finished vehicle — within the company.
